Now, Chanel No. 5 can boast two Carnegie Mellon University alumni associated with this iconic brand: School of Art pop artist Andy Warhol and School of Design pop artist Burton Morris.

A team of master's students from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design recently won the prestigious San Francisco Design Week Award for their project, “Orbit,” an app-based service that promotes sustainability through rental and sharing economy amongst new parents.

Organized Chaos, our senior show, opened at the Miller ICA on February 4th. After endless iterations, prototypes and hours in the studio, the seniors have neatly organized and packed four years of designed frenzy into a final show.

Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design was truly saddened to hear of the passing of alumnus John Little (1956) this past November. John was an incredibly accomplished product designer who was hired by the Ford Motor Company right out of his senior year at CMU. John’s work could be seen all throughout the automotive industry and his presence and expertise will truly be missed.

Jiyeon Chun, a junior at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design studying Product Design and Human-Computer Interaction (BDes ’24), spent this past summer interning with Petit Pli, a London-based material technology company. You may have heard of Petit Pli’s best known creation to date, “Clothes that Grow,” which are garments that grow with children for up to seven sizes.
