School of Design Alumni, Paul Gaudio, was featured in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for his work with Adidas and his efforts to make the brand "hip" in US markets again. From the article:
As Adidas’ first creative director in almost 15 years, Mr. Gaudio oversees about 400 designers around the world, including 70-80 in the U.S.
“You reach out, you draw from those people’s experiences as much as your own,” he said.
Mr. Gaudio grew up playing a variety of sports. At Carnegie Mellon University, he earned a degree in industrial design which helped but didn’t entirely prepare him for his job in Portland.
“The current kind of scope and responsibility, looking across all products, communications, retail, branding, packaging, those are all things I think you sort of gather up along the way, over 20 years,” he said. “I think industrial design tends to be closer to engineering than, say, some of the other design areas like graphic design.
