MDes Design Thesis Exhibition

Friday, May 8, 2020 - 1:00pm

Please join the second year MDes students in a series of short informal conversations about their thesis work that function similarly to a science fair exhibition. They are eager to share their thinking, prototypes, and discoveries with you so please make an effort to add the event to your calendars. Thanks!

WATCH THEIR PRESENTATIONS

On Tuesday, May 5, please review the videos that each of the six MDes II students created, which you can find in this google folder. The 10-minute videos serve as formal presentations that the MDes students had intended to deliver in person. Please access and review the videos asynchronously prior to joining the zoom conversations so that you have an understanding of what they have done and are prepared to chat with them about their work. They will NOT be giving presentations of their work during the zoom calls but will have their work on hand to reference via screen sharing as warranted.

PLAN FOR THE ZOOM CONVERSATIONS

Each of the six MDes II students will have a separate zoom call number that you will use to access their session and each of them will be conducting three separate conversations about their work (at 1-1:20; 1:25-1:45; 1:50-2:10). We’re taking this approach to facilitate more informal conversations than what often happens when we have many attendees in a session all at one time. Therefore, you will have an opportunity to chat with three of the six MDes II students, if you so choose.

RSVP BY WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

In an effort to mitigate zoom bombing, keep the number of attendees to a size that encourages meaningful informal conversation, and provide the MDes students with an idea of who they can expect on the calls, we kindly ask that you RSVP by the end of Wednesday, May 6. Members of the School of Design can sign-up online via this google sheet. Others should RSVP, noting the presentations (see below) and the time of the session you’d like to attend (options include 1pm, 1:25, and 1:50). We will follow the sign-up with an email that provides you with a zoom link and password to join the zoom conversations.

Not a member of the School of Design? RSVP here:

Faculty: it would be awesome if you could make it to a few of the sessions.

MDes I students: participation in the session is a requirement of Thesis Prep II so please plan to attend three sessions.

MDes II Thesis advisors: if possible, we would like you to join a zoom call with the MDes II students from 2:15-2:45, immediately following the thesis exhibition conversation so that we can discuss and celebrate their accomplishments together.
