David Kaufer
David Kaufer is the Paul Mellon Distinguished Professor Of English at CMU. His expertise is written composition theory and education. His approach to writing is very much influenced by design thinking. Together with Suguru Ishizaki, he has created large scale writer’s composing dictionaries and integrated technologies used for text-based research at the Shakespeare Folger Library, the Stanford Literary Lab, The Educational Testing Service, and the Rand Corporation. These technologies are now being embedded in our foundational academic and professional writing courses at CMU.
