School of Design Masters Students Win SF Design Week Award

A team of Master's Students from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design recently won the prestigious San Francisco Design Week Award for their project, “Orbit,” an app-based service that promotes sustainability through rental and sharing economy amongst new parents. 

Master’s Students Win Core77 Award in Consumer Technology

LifeKit, a mobile app concept designed by Anna Boyle (MDes ’21), Michelle Chou (MPS ’20), Eustina Daniluk (MPS ’20), and Nandini Nair (MDes ’21), recently won a Core77 Design Award in Consumer Technology. LifeKit makes end-of-life planning approachable, proactive, and streamlined; while also opening up opportunities to integrate into larger systems within the government, legal, health, and financial sectors.

Three MDes Students Awarded kynamatrix Research Grants

Three MDes studets, Jiyoung Ohn, Stefania La Vattiata, and Isha Hans, were awarded kynamatrix Research Network's "Innovation through Collaboration" grants for projects in design, engineering, and computer science. The kynamatrix Research Network is a nonprofit network of researchers dedicated to the "understanding and advancement of interactive communication, accelerating innovation in design, engineering, and computer science." The award is granted yearly and encourages studies in "interactive communication across the academic disciplines of design, engineering, and computer science."

Master’s Students Develop Scheduling Map for Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School

This summer, a team of Master’s students from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design is working with Dezudio, a design firm led by Adjuncts of Practice Raelynn O’Leary and Ashley Deal, to support a series of planning initiatives for the Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School to openly share their fall 2020 plans.
