Design Students Attend the Pittsburgh Glass Center

During the Fall 2021 semester, nine undergraduate students from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design received scholarships to attend classes at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Each semester, the School of Design partners with the CFA Dean’s Office to co-sponsor four students to attend classes at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. After taking a hiatus last year due to the pandemic, the School and the Design Experience Fund sponsored all nine students this semester. The recipients range from Freshman to Seniors with representatives from both the Products and Environments tracks.

Design Students Take Part in MIT Reality Hack Competition

On January 16, a team of students from Carnegie Mellon University took part in MIT Media Lab’s Mixed Reality Hackathon. MIT Reality Hack is a 5 day event held every January that comprises of thought leaders, brand mentors and creators, participants, students, and technology lovers to come together and attend tech workshops, talks, discussions, fireside chats, collaborations, hacking, and more.

Design Seniors Participate in Rehack

Design seniors Mason Young-Shor and Maddy Cha recently participated in Rehack, a reverse hackathon hosted at Princeton University. The theme of the hackathon was social interactions within one of these problem spaces—consumer media, social networks, productivity tools, or sharing economy.

Environments Senior Attends Brand New Design Conference

Jackie Chou (BDes ’20), a Design for Environments senior at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design, recently attended the Brand New Design Conference in Las Vegas, NV. The Brand New Conference, which stemmed from the Brand New blog run by Armin Vit and Bryony Gomez-Palacio, is a yearly design conference that focuses on identity and branding and featured speakers from all over the world.
