Confluence: Our Student Job Fair
Each year, representatives from more than some of the country’s top companies attend Confluence, the School of Design’s career event, to tap into our pool of talented graduates.
Confluence exists to bring seasoned and young professionals together in a hands-on exciting way. The event offers our students an invaluable experience, but participating companies also report that their conversations with students are rewarding.
During the event, dozens of excited students gather with employers to discuss their design work, career aspirations, and professional opportunities. They bring employers to their studios to showcase their work, talk about their passions, explain their design processes, and indicate the types of employment or internship opportunities they want to pursue.
Recruit at Confluence
Confluence is held in conjunction with CMU’s campus-wide job fair. When your company participates in Confluence, you have the option to promote your firm by hosting a table in the University Center and meeting students who drop by to chat with you.
To conduct formal interviews with students, you must first register as a Confluence participant. Students will then be able to reserve a time to meet with your company’s representative. Every year, as a direct result of these interviews, many of our students receive employment offers before the end of the academic year.
Employers are welcome to browse undergraduate and graduate student profiles before and after the event. However, no matter how you learn about our School of Design students and familiarize yourself with their work, we recommend attending Confluence. It’s an excellent way for firms and organizations to recruit for available full- and part-time design positions, as well as summer internships.
