Please join us for another edition of our Design Lecture Series with Ayako Aratani, Founder of Ayako Aratani Design Studio.

Ayako is a Detroit-based furniture designer originally from Japan. Her “O-sketch” won the Bronze Prize in the MUJI International Design Award in 2014. Her “Library Chair,” which won the Gold Prize at the Saku City Chair Design Competition, was later installed in a city library in Nagano Prefecture. Museums and galleries exhibiting her work include the Salon Gallery, the Walker Art Center and Wasserman Project Gallery. And she has been featured in publications such as Dwell, Dezeen, Architectural Digest, and Azure. Ayako is also studio manager for the Industrial Design Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art (where she graduated) and an adjunct faculty member at Lawrence Technological University.  ayakodesignstudio.com
